Re: The London Business School 2010 thread [#permalink]

Hi all,
First time poster here, I believe. I'm a R1 admit who will definitely be attending in the fall. Just wanted to wish you all the best of luck when d-day rolls around this week. Also, be sure to check your spam folder on d-day! Despite getting emails from LBS regularly during the admissions process, for some reason, my decision (and many others) ended up in spam, so I almost missed it.
I went to visit the school for the first time last week. I was a bit nervous since I hadn't been to the school before, but in all honesty, the school blew past my high expectations. The students, faculty, facilities--I was really impressed by it all. Two things really stood out to me: the classes were especially practical. The prof in one of the classes was going through complex Excel models as they related to a case study, which is incredibly useful if you are going to work in finance. I was also impressed by how successful the LBS first-years have already been in landing internships. In talking to my US b-school friends, they are still struggling mightily in finding jobs. Yet the LBS students have already locked down great interships at top-notch firms--some of them actually have TWO great internships.
Anyway, just wanted to say how excited I am for this fall, and hope you all will be coming along for the ride!

Good luck for all R2 applicants. I visited LBS yesterday, and I was told that the emails will be sent late in the evening of 25th....

Does LBS call to personally notify admitted applicants? Or is email the only notification method regardless of Admit or Ding?

thanks for gathering the intelligence michiavelli. i'm assuming that means late evening GMT. i looked through last year's thread - it looks to me like there were applicants that received admit emails around 7pm EST (which would mean midnight GMT). can anyone from past rounds/years attest to this?

Good luck to all R2 candidates.
Is applying in R3 at LBS considered as tough as applying in R3 to US schools?

Round 1ers got the acceptance emails sometime between 2-3pm EST, IIRC.
On the difficulty of R3 apps, from what I heard from AdCom, yes, it is as hard as US schools, but they follow that up by saying that they look kindly upon reapps...

after hours of experimentation, testing and retesting, I have therefore concluded - with a fair degree of certainty - that the clicking of one's email refresh button, even in different combinations, will not make the email from LBS come any sooner. good luck everyone.

Actually, I noticed that as long as I have my email open, almost no emails come, period. But if I close it down, and, better yet, walk away from my desk for even 10 minutes - bam, at least two or three! Emails are like rabbits that need to be ambushed.

It's almost 10 pm here - and another 4-5 hours to go. I'm hoping to wake up in the morning to find that glorious email.
Anybody else in the far east?
