(B) are the cutting and closing of blood vessels, and also the case of destroying
(C) are the cutting, closing of blood vessels, and in the destroying
(D) are the cutting and closing of blood vessels, and the destruction
(E) is in the cutting and closing of blood vessels, and the destroying

I think the Ans should be D.

reason: The areas.....................are........the closing and cutting and the destruction.

If i am wrong please let me know.

D uses the right right tense and parallelism (I think that is what it is called)
seems to be right, i.e. are the cutting...., and the destruction ...

A and E are out cos they use is, while B and C seem to ambiguous.

So I will go with D
