B sounds right to me...

A...verbose..
B...seems concise
C distorts the meaning
D again verbose
E...verbose...no need of so many words...

Its b/w B and C.

Will go with B due to correct meaning. In C its changes the meaning.

Can't be C, because the end of the sentence describes the cool, moist middle latitudes, not the polar ones.
