The new perfume Aurora smells worse to Joan than any comparably priced perfume, and none of her friend likes the smell of Aurora as much s the smell of other perfumes. However, she and her friends must have a defect in their sense of smell, since Professor Jameson prefers the smell of Aurora to that of any other perfume and she is one of the world┬б┬пs foremost experts on the physiology of smell.

20. The reasoning is flawed because it

(A) calls into question the truthfulness of the opponent rather than addressing the point issue.

(B) ignore the well-known fact that someone can prefer one thing to another without liking either very much

(C) fails to establish that there is widespread agreement among the experts in the field

(D) makes an illegitimate appeal to the authority of an expert

(E) misrepresents the position against when it is directed

21. From the information presented in the support of the conclusion, it can be properly inferred that

(A) none of Joan┬б┬пs friends is an expert on the physiology of smell

(B) Joan prefers all other perfumes to Aurora

(C) Professor Jameson is not one of Joan┬б┬пs friends

(D) none of Joan┬б┬пs friends likes Aurora perfume

(E) Joan and her friends all like the same kinds of perfumes .

"ignore the well-known fact that someone can prefer one thing to another without liking either very much "

author never negates this premise. the key to kill this statement is " without liking either very much", we can't prove this with the given logic.

the flaw is that author, for no reason, believes that an expert will surely have a good/better sense of sorting things.

I was struggling between B and D for the first question. Just chose D because of the word Authority. B didnt weaken or strengthen the argument. However I am prune to making these mistakes.
