A Chemist presented his Essays, critiquing …envisioning...

Left with D & E. Like E better as in D it seems that he is also critiquing his own vision.

A. "Essay on Heat and Light", a critique of A as well as a vision of B. Correct.
B. Breaks //ism.
C. same as B, and redundant (and, as well).
D. same as B.
E. obscures the original meaning.

Can't decide between A and B. What seems confusing to me in (A) is "as well as", so on exam day I would pick B

i'd go with E

You can't critique something since a person but you can critique something done since someone.
