The number of the people who were inoculated with vaccine M is twice the number of the people who were inoculated with vaccine P. The number of the people inoculated both M and P is 5000 and is twice the number only M. How many people were inoculated only P?

~3332 people were innoculated with P.

Two simple equations:

1. M=2P
2. M+P=5000

Sub M for P

P = 1666.666666666666 is a repeating non- whole number

Plug P back into equation 1: M = 3332.222222222 repeating

Only 3332 and 1666 come close.

Agree, most probably P=2M
Then M=7500, P=15000, an P only to 10 000
If the original version M=2P then M=7500, P=3750, which contradicts the stem that says that P&M is 5000

Unknown...

Answer choices?

the answer is 10000 but only when P=2M

But the info in the question gives us M=2P.

Seems like a flaw in the wording. :?
