gerund requires possessive case. "their being", "his playing baseball" etc

Tough question. I would bet on D.

for example we say "I object to their taking advantage of the situation". No?

Last I checked: overwork is both intransitive and transitive verb.

Generally avoid "being" in GMAT.

you didn't explain why D is wrong.

overwork can be both transitive and intransitive verb, so their overworking is not wrong yet more concise than A.
