The Official Guide vs. The Kaplan 2004 Guide [#permalink] New post 14 Sep 2003, 09:34
Whats up everybody, I'm new to this site, and I plan on taking my GMAT in mid Oct. I've been using the Official Guide as my sole study source, but alot of people I know that have taken the GMAT has stated that there were probability and combination types on the test, since I've never taken a descriptive statistics type class, I'm fearful right now of these types of problems especially since I gone through the Official Guide from cover to cover, and there isn't that many combination type problems in the book.

I saw the Kaplan 2004 guide in the store, and I was wondering if this book is worth the $32 bucks and does it have combination and permutation type of problems in it?

Thanks

LOL I love your username. Great luck with the GMAT. The Kaplan book has a few comb/perm problems, but not enough to refresh oneself in the area. The link to this site has a very difficult comb. section that is very helpful. Some of the problems are tougher than on the real thing, but that can only be helpful.

I would definitely use an overall prep book besides the OG to study. I used Cracking the GMAT (Princeton Review) and the strategies were excellent. The tests that come with the CD include full answer explanations - I found that really helpful too.

There are a bunch of tough math questions posted on the GMAT Tutor Yahoo Group online, so try that too.
