The positive numbers w, x, y, and z are such that x is 20 percent greater than y, y is 20 percent greater than z, and w is 20 percent less than x. What percent greater than z is w ?

A. 15.2%
B. 16.0%
C. 20.0%
D. 23.2%
E. 24.8%

IMO A:

z = 100
y = 120
x = 140
w = 115.2

so w will be 15.2% of z

w = 0.8 * 1.2 * 1.2 * z
so w= 1.152 z
so w = 0.152 * 100 % of z = 15.2 %.

Answer: A

1200 = x , y = 1000 ,z = 5000/6 = 2500/3. = 833

w = 960

960 - 833 = 127
127/833*100 = 15.25% approx A is the answer

x = 1.2y ---------- (1)
y = 1.2z ---------- (2)
w = 0.8x ---------- (3)

Question: w = (1+p)z, find p

w = 0.8*(1.2y) ---------- (1) & (3) ---------- (4)
w = 0.8*(1.2)*(1.2)z ---------- (4) & (2)
w = (1.152)z
w = (1 + 0.152)z
p = 0.152 = 15.2%

The answer is A.

answer is A

z=1
y-1.2
x=1.44
w=1.152

percent w i sgreater than z= .152/1*100=15.2%
