The price of lunch for 15 people was $207 including a 15 percent gratuity for service. What was the average price per person, excluding the gratuity?

A)$11.73
B)$12.00
C)$13.00
D)$14.00
E)$15.87

My answer:
(207) (15 / 100) = 31.05
207 – 31.05 = 179.95
179.95 / 15 = 11.73

But the correct answer is $12.00. Why?

LET ORIGINAL PRICE BEFORE SERVICE = X

PRICE AFTER SERVICE = 207

= X+.15X = 1.15X = 207

X = 180

AVERAGE = 180/15 = 12

HOPE THIS HELPS
