If x of the students later fail to contribute their share, which of the following represents the additional number of dollars that each of the remaining students must contribute in order to pay for the present?

Total cost = Y

Cost per student: Y/R

Now tot no. of students who contribute = R-X

Hence each student has to contribute: Y/ (R-X)

Additional amt: Y/R - Y/(R-X) = YX/R(R-X)

If everybody pays, it is Y/R dollars per student.
If X sutdents are not paying the total additional amount will be XY/R dollars
It should be shared by R-X students, which means the additional amount for each student is XY/R(R-X) = D
