not have round shelves that rotate? Because such
rotating shelves would have just the same sort of
drawback, since things would fall off the shelvesâ€™
edges into the rear corners.
Which of the following is presupposed in the
argument against introducing rotating shelves?
(A) Refrigerators would not be made so that their
interior space is cylindrical.
(B) Refrigerators would not be made to have a
window in front for easy viewing of their
contents without opening the door.
(C) The problem of spoilage of refrigerated food is

The argument states that ROUND SHELVES WOULD NOT HELP BECAUSE THINGS WOULD FALL INTO REAR CORNERS. What is the presupposition? The best way to check is to consider opposites to all answer choices and see which one will ruin the argument:
A) opposite: "Refrigerators WOULD be made so that their interior space is cylindrical". This will ruin the argument because there are no rear corners in a cylindrical refrigirator
B) opposite: "Refrigerators WOULD be made to have a window in front for easy viewing of their contents without opening the door". This measure will only guarantee that WE WILL SEE what is in the rear corners but it does not mean that WE WILL REACH for the things that have fallen there instead of taking what we want from the front of the shelf
C) opposite: "The problem of spoilage of refrigerated food IS amenable to SOME solution based on design changes"
OK, but it doesn't say that ROUND SHELVES is this solution. It can be that round shelves have the drawback the author described in his argument but the problem CAN BE SOLVED IN SOME OTHER DESIGN
D) I won't consider the opposite here but will instead say that the author does not need to presuppose that ANY design is flawed when arguing against the PARTICULAR design (round shelves)
E) opposite: "Rotating shelves would be designed to rotate NOT ONLY while the refrigerator door was open"
Well, even if these shelves are rotating all the time it won't prevent things from falling into rear corners. The author's argument is not ruined by this
