The rectangular region contains two circles and a semicircle, each with a radius of 7. If is used as an approximation forπ, then the area of the shaded region is approximately ( Note: Shaded region is just the area inside the rectangle not covered by circles)

See the attached picture.

Length of rectangle = 35
Width = 14

Area of rect. = 35*14=490

Area of 1st whole circle = pi*7^2 = 22/7 * 7^2 = 22*7=154
Area of 2nd whole circle = 154
Area of semicircle = 154/2=77
Total area of circles=154+154+77=385

Area of the rest=490-385=105
