The regular price for canned soup was reduced during sale. How much money could one have save by purchasing a dozen 7-ounce cans of soup at the reduced price rather than at the regular price?

1) The regular price for the 7-ounce cans was 3 for a dollar
2) The reduced price for the 7-ounce cans was 4 for a dollar

To calculate saving you need both regular price as well as reduced price.

Statement 1 gives you regular price.
Statement 2 gives you reduced price.

So both together are sufficient to answer the question. (No need for calculations).
