The table above shows the number of students in a certain high school class who are boys and the number of students in the class who are studying biology. What is the total number of students in the class?

(1) Of the boys in the class, 15 are studying biology.

(2) The number of girls in the class is twice the number of students in the class who are not studying biology.

St 1 gives only the total no. of boys.
St. 2 does not provide any concrete information.

I think it is B

1. gives number of Boys who study biology, from that we can only find Non biology guys and no other info. so not suff.

2. says that the number of girls is twice the students who do not study biology. look at the chart i attached and work out the following equations

26+x=N
18+2x=N

from there x=8

so number of students is 34
so B

B.

(1) Don't know anything about number of girls, cannot determine.
(2) We know that 26+a = Total
18+2a = Total
Therefore, 26+a=18+2a, find a, then find total

OA is C. But there is no way that is correct. I agree that the correct answer is B.

Ya this is B. I think S2 intended to say either just girls who don't take bio or boys. Not the total who dont take bio.

Insufficient.

St2:
# of students in class = n
# of girls = n-18
# of people not doing biology = n-26

n-18 = 2(n-26)
n-18 = 2n-52
n = 44. Sufficient.

Yes, This is B. Just plug-in #s in the table..
