Its option A. The method of negation works in this case. The argument will not work if we negate option A. Rest are irrelevant. I considered Option D initially, but then negation method helped.

Should be A.

I used POE. After eliminating I was left with A & E. Lets say A is wrong. The whole argument is baseless. With E, the statement says that it is widely expected. So not really an assumption. A is right choice. If there is no assumption that a socialist will oppose the US, there is nothing to be concerned about.
