Re: The value of the dollar in international markets will continue to incr [#permalink]
Hi, I am really confused. Not able to convince myself about the correct answer choice.

The value of the dollar in international markets will continue to increase, as it has been since interest rates began to rise.

IMO the meaning of the sentence is as follows:

After interest rates started to rise, the value of dollar also started increasing. The value of dollar will continue to increase in future also.

Why would we use has to denote a timeline for which we know when the action started? Isn't has used to denote an action that started at an unspecified time in the past? Here it is clearly mentioned when the value of dollar started to increase (use of since) i.e. after the interest rates began to rise.

Since Usages dictates that Present perfect continuous tense should be used.
So, It Should be " As it has been (increasing) since ------"

in A, i thought it is wrong because without ellipsis it should be " as it has been (increasing)" and there is no "increasing" in the sentence.
is my method correct?

I also chose A but come to think about it, "as it has BEEN" might refer either to the state of the value OR to the increase itself (the action). Option B clears this by specifically referring to the action of increasing.
