Did you guys try the negation test for the assumptions?? i would strongly suggest doing so.
Guys, B is not an assumption. So what if other breeds of sheep also escaped early domestication, Wild Moulfans can still give a good picture of early sheep. please read the passage again. Negate B and you will see that the argument still holds.
IF we negate D , we come to the conclusion that the modern domesticated sheep are
more similar to their forebears. This means that modern sheep give a better picture of what the early domesticated sheep look like. Thus, the entire argument falls apart. Therefore, D is the best answer.
