There are six books on a shelf. In how many ways no more than three books can be taken from the six?

I anticipate an interesting discussion.

1C6+2C6+3C6=6+15+20=41

what about 6C0?
it is a void set of combinations, conforming to the initial question stem -- no more than 3 books. In other words, we can take none by the sole way.

Therefore, maybe 42?

I believe that it should count too unless the question specifically states that at least one book is taken. Having said that, I would be inclined to use language that make it clear what to do if my intent was not to be too tricky.
