When McDonald's recently announced they were hiring 62,000 people, 938,000 applied, which represents 6.6% acceptance rateFair enough, Stanford's admit rate is 5% but HBS is 12% - double that of McDonald's! http://www.zerohedge.com/article/mcdona ... -time-jobs| This is what the US economy has been reduced to: McDonalds reports that as part of its employment event to hire 50,000 minimum wage, part-time (mostly) workers, subsequently raised to 62,000 it received a whopping 1 million applications, or a Tim Geithner jealousy inducing 6.2% hit rate (h/t X. Kurt. OSis). Alas, the US economy is now so pathetic that the bulk of the population will settle for anything. Literally anything. And the saddest part: over 938,000 applicants were turned away. Here's hoping to Burger King needs a few million janitors in the immediate future too. And yes, aside from reality, things in America are really recovering quite nicely. |

I think I heard about this happening in china as well. But you figure it's just a matter of having everyone ad their mother doping for a american wage job in china. Plus mcd develops their employees too, so there is alt of upside even as a mcd branch manager. It's just a matter of relativity, since standard of living is so poor. Actually, I think in the states a mcd manager makes like 65 to 80k. Not bad if you ask me... Posted from my mobile device

And if you become a manager of a cluster, you are doing even better (120k), but the job is intense and few people last a long time but McD's experience is valued in many industries (not only fast food). If you have made a manager/cluster manger/etc - means you got guts and went through quite a selection/training process. It is very good! P.S. The only drawback is that they still heavily promote only from within

yea its funny, growing up you are always told that the worst thing in the world is to work for fast food... but seriously if you make it to regional director, you are set for life... so many horizontal or vertical moves.
