Third attempt? Second attempt 730 (Q45, V46) [#permalink] New post 14 Nov 2011, 12:48
Just took the gmat for a second time. First attempt was a 700 (42q 45v) and second attempt was a 730 (45q 46v).

I'm obviously fairly happy with the overall score and verbal score, but my quant score is concerning me.

My background is that I graduated from college as valedictorian of my class (3.45 GPA in Commerce (Finance and Accounting majors) and Law degrees in Australia). Now working as an analyst for a bulge bracket investment bank so am naturally a bit worried about the quant score - I deal with numbers so frequently! Wondering how bad this looks...?

I'm applying for b-school this year and am only applying to HBS, Stanford and Wharton. I have the option to try once more in December and will still get my scores in time before applications are due. Should I retake?? Help!

730 is a good score. If I were you, I would focus all the energies on the essays. The incremental advantage that you would get for every additional 10 points in your gmat score is less. As you are working at a bank, you need to utilize your time effectively. Focus on essays. They will have more impact on your application. Good luck!

As far as I know, 730 is the near the median for all of those universities. I don't really think there is any need to retake the GMAT.

Congratulations on your score!
