Re: Though initially opposed the matter, the governor approved [#permalink]
A, ok try the split!!

Though initially opposed the matter, the governor approved the new needle exchange program at the urging of his own doctor

This clause makes sense....let's go the next

Though initially opposed the matter, the governor approved the new needle exchange program at the urging of his chief advisers

This also makes sense...now the finale

Though initially opposed the matter, the governor approved the new needle exchange program at the urging of the coalition of some 20 social action groups.

which also makes sense...hence A

1. at the urging of his own doctor, his chief advisors, and the coalition of some
2. as a consequence of having been urged by his own doctor, his chief advisers, and the coalition of some
3. on account of being urged by his own doctor, chief advisers, and the coalition of
4. as he was urged to do by his own doctor, his chief advisers, and the coalition of some
5. as his own doctor was urging him to do along with his chief advisers, and the coalition of

Please explain ur answer option...I am looking for explanation not merely answer

Interesting. I was down to A and B. But couldnt decide on one.

I've seen many "urged by" sentences before. This is the first time I have noticed someone using "at the urging of".

Gerund "urging" needs possessive case so "at the urging of HIS doctor" is correct.

A stands
