This question has a meaning error(choose your words) and subject-verb agreement error.

At the end of the underlined portion we have the word RANGING(means:varying),so it is not appropriate for intent of author.
On the other hand,we have RANGE OF(means:variety of),so this is a correct.

According to the reason above answer choices(A,C,E) must be eliminated and remain only(B,D).
Also the subject(graphic design) is singular,so the verb(have) is not correct and eliminate(D) too.

The correct answer choice is B

As mostly the confusion relies upon the Option (C). I will dwell on that.

suggest corporate brochure and annual report
layout, it has signified widely ranging

(1). Term may suggest Doing something (Original). However, in this option

may suggest NOUN(CB and AR) which is different from original.

(2). widely ranging work

Widely ranging could describe a conversation that moves
from one topic to another; in this context, it is
incorrect because the work does not move from
one place to another.

there is a small error in the question : "work" should not be underlined

Other than the Pronoun error that it should be used instead of they.
And the evident error that widely ranging is incorrect and it should be wide range of..

This sentence is driven by meaning -
In my opinion, A term may have suggested is incorrect because the meaning of a term should be a generalized statement. Thus present tense should be used. The term may suggest.....
In addition to that, sentence is also stating that the term's meaning has evolved ..thus the term may suggest this but it has evolved to signify " "...

Also, the second clause - it has is present perfect ... this drives why the first clause cannot be present perfect ..

My pick was B

Anyone, please help to clarify the difference between "widely ranging work" and "a wide range of work"? This difference is mentioned in OG explanation but I cannot understand its reason. Many thanks and kudos! :-D
