As correctly explained by bangon, the answer must be D.
Tiger shark has prayed on Alaskon Salmon. The traits of this Salmon are:
i) it is born in fresh water.
ii) it migrates to the ocean
iii)it return to fresh water to reproduce.

A-> wrong comparison at the end.
B->migrating implies that its a consequence of the preceding clause.
C-> Close call but "it" is ambigous here; can refer to Alaskon Salmon.
e-> Disaster

+1D

A: that migrates to the ocean, and that returns to fresh water to reproduce, more than the marko shark that is ambiguous. more than the - more what? migrates more, reproduces more, attacks more?
B: migrating to the ocean and returning to fresh water to reproduce, more than it has on the marko shark it is ambiguous
C: that migrates to the ocean, and that returns to fresh water to reproduce, more than it has on the marko shark that seems to be ambiguous, it is ambiguous
D: migrates to the ocean, and returns to fresh water to reproduce, more than on the marko shark Correct
E: that migrates to the ocean, and for reproduction that returns to fresh water more than to the marko shark that is ambiguous, migrate and reproduction should be parallel

Hii Archit.
I am just referring to MGMAT SC in addition to watching Ron's Videos. It has been around 3 times that I have read the book and added some notes to my verbal pad. In other words dedicated to MGMAT.
I heard great reviews about e-GMAT too and it seems that they are a great value for money. If you feel so, then go for it. And if possible, please ask for a discount for me.

Tiger shark, a rare example of creature that eats members of its own species, has preyed on the Alaskan salmon,
the species of fish that is born in fresh water, that migrates to the ocean, and that returns to fresh water to
reproduce, more than the marko shark

A:
Tiger shark HAS PREYED ON the Alaskan salmon MORE THAN the marko shark.... (ambiguous comparison)

D:
Tiger shark HAS PREYED ON the Alaskan salmon,
the species of fish THAT IS born in fresh water,
migrates to the ocean, and
returns to fresh water to reproduce,
MORE THAN ON the marko shark

("that" is missing before "migrates" and "returns" in D.)

C:
Tiger shark,..., HAS PREYED ON the Alaskan Salmon(AS),

the species of fish
THAT is born in fresh water;
THAT migrates to the ocean, and
THAT returns...to reproduce,

MORE THAN IT HAS (preyed) ON the marko shark
simply stated: Tiger shark has preyed on Alaskan salmon than it has on the marko shark.
is the use of "it" referring to Tiger shark an issue here? seems too far from the subject.

Hii Bull.
Completely agree with the explanation.
After reading your explanation, everything in this question became as clear as water.
Regarding the usage of "it", we may do one thing that can help fix the ambiguity issue.

Tiger shark, a rare example of creature that eats members of its own species, has preyed on the Alaskan salmon, the species of fish that is born in fresh water, that migrates to the ocean, and that returns to fresh water to reproduce, more than it has on the marko shark.

Now, I guess, it becomes very clear how "it" here refers to Tiger Shark only.
"It" can's refer to Alaskan Salmon because it is a part of subordinate clause, which is not being given equal importance.

wonderful question!!!

Hi,

Thanks GmatBull for the answer :) (relieved :))

The way i percieved this question with regards to option C and Option D is

Option C

that is born in fresh water
that migrates to the ocean, and
that returns to fresh water to reproduce,

more than it has on the marko shark

As per the intended meaning of sentence pronoun it refers to the Tiger Shark

Option D

(that)

is born in fresh water
migrates to the ocean
returns to fresh water

So ||'ism wise i feel both option C and D is acceptable.

The subtle difference that lies between C and D is

C: more than it has on the marko shark
D:more than on the marko shark

Though the option D is comparatively smaller (word-wise) than C, i feel that option C is stylistically preferable than option D.

Also as per my understanding if C would not have been in the options, Choice D would have been the best among the rest and probably correct.

Pls correct me if i'm missing some pt here.

Thanks
Jatin

Apart from Pronoun, C and D seems to be correct only i guess.

@ Bull
"that" is missing before "migrates" and "returns" in D.
Is this a serious issue...?
I read like "In parallelism repeated words can be dropped off"
Isn't this correct?

If so why cant we drop "that" for "migrate" and "returns" ???

Pronoun "it" cannot refer a noun in subordinate clause?
I came across such sentence, which has pronoun points to subordinate clause.

I'm searching for it...
Will keep you posted...
