Time lapse between application and GMAT test. [#permalink] New post 03 Aug 2012, 11:11
Hi, I was curious, do schools look down on applications on applicants who have taken the test from a long time ago? I plan on taking the GMAT this winter but wouldn't actually start looking at applying to school until maybe three or four years down the road. What are people's suggestions on this?

I don't know, but prepare an explanation in any case. Maybe you can say it took you long to research programs, or some developments in your career. It's good to start early with the GMAT in case you'll have to take it again to improve your score.

I think with the GMAT being valid for 5 years it's a good strategy to get the test "out of the way" and I would think that adcoms understand this. However, I would not wait more than 3 years between the test and application, just in case.

My situation is similar. I took the GMAT earlier this year but won't be applying till next year or 2014.
