To be accepted as a member at the Brown Country Club, one must have a net worth of over ten million dollars and must not have any connections to the entertainment industry. Robert Chase, the publishing magnate, has a net worth of 5 billion dollars and has been accepted as a member at the Brown Country Club.
Given the statements above, which one of the following conclusions must be true ?
A. Chase’s membership was preapproved.
B. Chase does not know anyone who has connections to the entertainment industry.
C. Chase’s ex-business partner is a major concert promoter, has a net worth of 100 million dollars and is a member of the BCC.
D. Chase’s brother, who has also pertitioned for membership at Brown, has a net worth of 10 billion dollars and considers it beneath his dignity to associate with anyone in the entertainment industry. Hence, his petition will be accepted.
E. Chase has not financed any Hollywood movies.

A bit tricky but B it is.
Even though Chase works in the publishing industry, he could be approved as long as he does not know anyone who works in the entertainment industry. This is the safest answer because even though he did not know anyone in the entertainment industry, he could still have known people who had links with the entertainment industry which would have made him have "indirect connections" to that industry. D was a tempting answer

conclusion entails the gist of the paragraph. C and D are wide open.
B is the only one that come close.

It has to be B only. D is really a trap, I believe.

Doesn't look like a GMAT question
I will go with E
If Chase HAS FINANCED a Hollywood movie then he has connections with the entertainment industry. It all depends of course how you define "connections" and "entertainment industry"
I think that to conclude from "A knows B who has connection with C" that "A has connections with C" is preposterous. That's why B is out for me
E is disputable too because Chase may have financed a movie IN THE PAST, that is he could have connections with the entertainment industry in the past but he no more maintains these relations. However, the passage uses expression "ANY connections" so I assume that PAST connections qualify under ANY connections
Is Holywood a part of an entertainment industry? I believe so...

'has not financed' means that he has not done so far. It does not indicate any future proof that he will not do so.
The requirement is 'one must not have connections' which is always true. It means that if he does so in the future, he has to forgo his membership.
So, I believe B is still fine. However, I await the OA with explanation. I may be wrong too

The answer is E.
Even I chose B. But the book explained that only if B is already true he can become the member of BCC. So, the conclusion must be E.
