hey hjort,

I am from India. We do not have the GPA grading system here. Here we
have the percentage system. We receive marks out of 100. So, i do not know how to convert these marks to the "gpa"........

My own assessment:

*Marks greater then 75% are rare at my univ.

*Highest final engineering aggregate that I know of is around 80% with
less then 10% people above 75%.

My own percentage - 65%
I believe every university will have their own formula for calculation
gpa, still, one always has the curiosity in mind as to how much the marks will amount to............
since you are the most knowledgeable person around, i would like to pose the above question to you.................

KUDOS
most universities do not encourage you to convert but report your scores as is
(HBS,Stanford,wharton, etc)

Some like columbia ask ur estimate but insist on official transcripts being sent. The transcripts should have the registrar comment on GPA to % mapping

I am from V.j.t.i, mumbai university where marks above 70% are rare
so for columbia I have mapped my 68.5 % to be equivalent to 3.75 GPA

But my transcript very clearly mentions that % cannot by any means be converted to GPA and there is a detailed explanation of class system

get your registrar to do such a write up

If you are from mumbai university then I can forward you a copy of mine online

Please PM me if you nned one
