I think C is the correct one because they is a pronoun and it doesnot qualify noun properly

IMO C . ..are growing fish (X) twice as fast as their natural growth rate( Y).. to be || Y=growing fish ( them) naturally.
If we choose D or E, They will mean the suppliers, however their in the next sentence will mean the fishes.. which will be confusing.

Anyone know what's wrong with C? I guess D is right then. "they grow naturally" sounds better then "growing them naturally"

I chose A. What is wrong with "their natural growth rate"?

I don't think, we grow them naturally.. (they (fish) grow themselves naturally). D) suppliers are growing fish twice as fast as they grow naturallygrowing fish by suppliers twice as fast as fish grow naturallyproper comparision.

(A) ... (B) their natural growth rate, their feed allotment cut (C) growing them naturally, cutting their feed allotment (D) they grow naturally, cutting their feed allotment (E) they grow naturally, with their feed allotment cut This sentence tests two things parallelism and comparisons. A is gone as growing fish is compared to growth rate. B also has parallesim problems. E also has parallesim issue. left with C and D. are growing fish twice as fast as growing them naturally are growing fish twice as fast as they grow naturally Clearly latter is more logical. A takeway from a famous resource don't fall for superficial parallelism.

A and B.- "their" refers to suppliers: no sense D and E.- "they" refers to suppliers: no sense C.- it sounds weird for me... Im with F.

C and D are close. I think C has a problem. If suppliers are growing them naturally why again they are growing them twice the rate? There has to be a contrast in the growth of fish ,by suppliers and by their own.

what is the OA? and source?
IMO c. Although D sounds better in terms of construction but i find the usage 'they' ambiguous. Thats what i know that a pronoun will refers more strongly to the subject followed by the object.
Suppliers(Subject)....are growing(verb).....fish(object) as fast as 'they'(suppliers/fish)
Can someone explain as to why "they" can refer to fish only and not suppliers in option D?
Experts comment please.
Thanks

God forbidden SC ! I really didn't like it. All the choices seem wrong. D is best among the worst. (D) they grow naturally, cutting their feed allotment >> Answer Are you saying suppliers will grow naturally? This is non sense. they refer to fish ----> fish grow naturally (twice as fast as the rate suppliers are growing fish) To meet the rapid rising market demand for fish and seafood, suppliers are growing fish twice as fast as their natural growth rate, cutting their feed allotment by nearly half and raising them on special diet.

Quote: To meet the rapid rising market demand for fish and seafood, suppliers are growing fish twice as fast as their natural growth rate, cutting their feed allotment by nearly half and raising them on special diet.
(A) ... (B) their natural growth rate, their feed allotment cut (C) growing them naturally, cutting their feed allotment (D) they grow naturally, cutting their feed allotment (E) they grow naturally, with their feed allotment cut D - "they" doesn't refer to suppliers but to fish: fish is plural as well. One could say: suppliers are grow ing fish twice as fast as they, the fish, grow naturally, cutt ing their feed allotment by nearly half and rais ing them on special (them = the fish, plural again) diet. ps: perfect parallelism...

yeah.. ..but there has to be some standard....coz for most of the questions involving pronoun errors...the explanation is probable "maybe because this is that" and never sure. My confidence in spotting and correcting pronoun errors has gone down really down. Recently, i read that the pronoun will more strongly refer to the subject followed by other nouns/objects. Not sure...though.... Experts can you please explain why 'they' used in the stem is not ambiguous? Thanks
