Today, all the items in the card store are 30% discounted. Currently, the christmas cards are 20% discounted. Based on this 20% discounted price, how much is dicounted today?

Original cost = x
After 20% discount = 0.8x
Now 30% discount = 0.7(0.8x) = 0.56x

Amt discounted = x-0.56x = x(1-0.56)

% discounted today = x(1-0.56)/x * 100% = 44%

I plugged in values.
suppose say the card costs $100 , usual discount in the card is 30% , which makes the card $70
today a special discount 20% 70/100*20=14 ,
thus price of card today =56

therefore total discount is 100-56 = 44%

the oa i have is 12.5

does this make any sense?

ie. actual price =100
after 20% discount, price wil be 80. If the item is 30% discount, price will be 70.

based on 80 % discount the percentage of discount today will be 80-70/80=12.5
