Today I received my TOEFL score of 110 (Reading 28, Listening 30, Speaking 23, Writing 29)
I have not prepared much for the TOEFL. But here is what I did.
I am not a native speaker but I received a good education in Germany. During my school time I was never really good in English and had Ds or Es in my exams.
But I started watching TV series and Movies in English only, what helps a lot to understand texts or conversations.
Furthermore I did a semester abroad in San Diego, CA.
The only resource I used was the OG of the TOEFL Test and I used 2 of the 3 PrepTests that come with the book.
I have been learning for the GMAT for approximately one month when my TOEFL Test day came by.
I explicitly learned one day for the TOEFL making me familiar with the test.
So I guess for everyone who is learning for the GMAT, don't drive yourself crazy. The GMAT English is harder than the TOEFL's.
Do a few GMAT RC Questions, write a few AWAs and create a nice template. I have uploaded my GMAT AWA Cheat Sheet for you.
Watch a few shows on BBC or TV Series (I recommend Suits, Entourage, White Collar
My Speaking Score could be a bit better but I haven't prepared for speaking at all. I really don't know how.
One way is to answer some Speaking questions and record it.
On Test Day, don't get too nervous. Get a good breakfast and during your breaks, eat a fitness or protein bar.
Those bars have a high amount of carbohydrates - a fast energy source. Your brain consumes a lot of carbohydrates, thus eating them prevents fatigue.
Hope this helps a few people. It is not a real debrief but might help to reduce the uncertainty.
Two days after my TOEFL I had the GMAT and scored 670 Q49 and only 34 in Verbal :D
