Toefl prep for a native speaker? [#permalink] New post 27 Jun 2012, 02:26
Hello,

My question might seem odd, but I am looking for some tips on how to prepare for the toefl as a native speaker. I am a native speaker but I have studied abroad for my undergrad, in a non-english speaking country. Because of this most MBAs I want to apply to require me to pass the Toefl. (Even with a 49 in my verbal GMAT... Talk about encouraging english speakers to study abroad...)

Anyway, back on topic :
Is it possible to go into the test completely unprepared? (i'm expecting the answer to be no)
Which brings me to my main question...
In you opinion, what are the main points to prepare for someone like me? (I have the OG, a friend gave it to me. Is this enough? Useless?)

I am taking it in about a month.

Thank you very much for any help you can give me.

Hi, I am from a non-English speaking country and I scored 104. (R30 L28 S19 W27). I took me about 2 weeks or so to prepare. (I had some problems with speaking part.). Obviously, there should not be a problem for a native speaker like you who got 49 on verbal.

Anyways, if you want to get the best score possible, you should prepare some, especially on speaking part. The questions are kind of a pattern. Just make yourself familiar with it and your speaking should be very smooth.

I also think that the official book is enough. Just try the practice tests in CD to see where you are at. :-D
