TOEFL Preparation query [#permalink] New post 04 Sep 2010, 06:56
Hi guys,

I am planning to give my TOEFL soon and needed some advice for the same. I have already given my GMAT and scored a reasonable 40 for the Verbal section and 5.5 for the AWA there. Although English is not my native language, I have done my entire education till now in English and am pretty comfortable with the language. Have also been working in an English speaking country for 1.5 yrs now.

Just started going through a few free practice tests and other info regarding TOEFL on the internet and the found that the questions etc were quite okay. I need to give TOEFL asap and I am planning to give it within next 2 weeks.
I am not planning to study with any books or buy any other online materials for toefl as such after having seen the test pattern and sample questions etc. Just going to go through the writing templates and practise stuff like that.

So, can you guys tell me if I might be taking this a little lightly or I can go ahead and give the exam with this approach. Targeting around 108-110.

Thanks.

Hi Riverside,

Congrats on your V40 in GMAT :).

I think you have strong chances to score more than 108 given your background.

In my personal experience, I scored V38, AWA 5.5, in the GMAT, and then I took the TOEFL and scored 109.

I suggest you to take a look in these templates. In addition, think about wearing earplugs. The people around you speaking aloud all the time can ruin your exam.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out!
