TOEFL preparation strategy [#permalink] New post 01 Mar 2010, 02:08
Dear all,

This is my first post in the forum. I saw that there are a lot of stories and strategies about taking the GMAT. And I see that the section about TOEFL is somewhat new.

I'd like to ask, if anyone that already passed TOEFL, would like to debrief a good strategy for preparing for TOEFL (eg. how many weeks needed, what to study each week, etc). Since my mother tongue is not English, I thought that it made sense to take TOEFL first, and then GMAT, so at least for the verbal part I would have studied a little and possibly improve the outcome. But the materials I could gather so far for TOEFL preparation don't teach a lot of grammar, just answer techniques. I just didn't want to study one subject twice.

Any light about this issue (study for TOEFL first or simultaneously for GMAT) will be greatly appreciated.

Best regards!

I have another question: how is the correlation between GMAT verbal and TOEFL? If someone did good in TOEFL, does it mean that will do well in GMAT verbal section? or a good GMAT verbal score guarantees a good TOEFL score?

Thanks

шны not a strong correlation between the tests. GMAT is CAT iBT is not.
reading is much easier in iBT.
