Top 10 vs Top 30 w/critical foreign language skill [#permalink]
13 Feb 2007, 09:23
Idealistically, a combination of the two would be downright lethal, but consider the following:
Some fellow members here at GMAT club are obviously proficient in at least one critical business language other than English. Taking that skill into consideration, what do you think of the prospects for an applicant or entrepreneur with an internationally recognized certification (abiltiy to read, write, comprehend and conduct business at the NATIVE level) in one of the following seven global critical languages and an MBA from a top 30 program? Could that individual be potentially as competitive as her monolingual counterpart with a top 10 MBA??
1. Mandarin
2. Arabic
3. Russian
4. Japanese
5. French
6. German
7. Spanish

I voted for top 10, but if you are going to be an entrepreneur, then that changes. Fluent language skills are critical to tapping into global markets if you are on your own.
