Finally we have a timer in RC as we all wished for so long.
Thanks bb for this change. Lets try how this workd out to give us a better practice experience.

can we have some setting which starts off the next timer as soon as we select an option in previous timer just like the scenario in exam so that we can complete all questions of an RC in one go? So that we dont have to crawl back to the top of the page to start the next timer. Its just a suggestion if possible.

Thank you all very much for the suggestions - we are starting to work on the next gen/version of the timer, so these are super helpful! (realistically it will take about 4 weeks to design, develop, test, screw it up, fix, and release it.... just to set expectations)

Timer for RC is a welcome change. But a timer for each question takes up too much space and navigation. Maybe we could use timer split functionality like the ones windows or mobile timer apps have. On each click, a split is created and this split could correspond to each question. It would be more useful to evaluate rc performance wrt time.

Hey bb,

This is a great change to the RC passages you have made.

One suggestion from me :

Can we have a timer after every question on the right side of the Panel. I mean we can have the size of the timer tool reduced. It would help a lot in marking the answer and stay focused rather than moving up and marking the answer.

Or

Another suggestion could be to just have the RC at the top rather than on the left. And then Question + Timer + Spoiler. This will increase the ease of use.

Thanks

Seems like the timer functionality for Reading Comprehensions is not working since few hours. Any clue if it is down or facing any issues?

Thank you. The issue has been fixed. It seems it was a temporary glitch that required a reboot to fix.
Let me know if anything is off in RC. It seems to be back to normal!

Do we have to set the timer for first question as soon as we start reading the passage or when we start reading the first question?

Quick answer: When we start reading the first question.

That means for correct understanding of time taken, we’ll have add the time taken to read the passage?

Apart from individual questions timer, how much time shall we dedicate on average to read the passage? Thanks for your response

OK now I understood your question and I will change my answer.

You have to play the timer and then start reading the passage, time taken to read the passage + time taken to answer the first question will be stored under the timer of the first question. Usually, a short passage required approx. 2 and a half minutes, and a long passage required 3 and half minutes. There is no hard and fast rule here the time required to read a passage ultimately depends on the difficulty of the passage and its length. 100-120 words-per-minute speed is fine.
