In A & B, they does not agree with company management (singular).
In C, D & E later and future are redundant.

Not sure about the validity of the question.

Your reasoning is correct - all options have problems as you mentioned. Nonetheless the main error for all the options is the use of past perfect ("could have sold") for a future event with respect to past - past perfect is applicable for past of past, but not for future of past. Conditional future ("could sell" / "would sell") is correct for depiciting future of past.

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

It may be difficult to identify what's wrong with this sentence at first. The underlined part of the sentence uses the word "they" to refer to "management." "Management," however, is singular. You might interpret management as plural, but the sentence uses a singular verb (was forced, not were forced), so in order to be consistent, we need to use a singular pronoun in the underlined part.
We can eliminate (A) and (B) because they contain the plural pronoun "they." Choice (C) uses the passive voice, which is undesirable. Choices (D) and (E) are similar, but (E) is the better option because (D) is redundant. It uses the phrase "later...in the future." Just one of these is enough.

The correct answer is Choice (E).

The correct answer is Choice (E).

Even E has both "later" and "future".
Absence of later would have made it a better contender than D.
