IMO OA should be C

A. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, it was found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have a lower probability of escape...............Modifier error. 'which' is needed before consistent.

B. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, they found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, which is consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have just as low of an escape probability................They seems to refer to researchers' (possessive) instead of the researchers. Just as low doesn't provide intended meaning.

C. The researchers’ studies of HIV found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, a result consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have a lower probability of escape .................Looks fine

D. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, it was found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein have many possible escape mutations, which was consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have just as low of an escape probability.............................Singular verb 'has' is needed. 'Just as low' doesn't give intended meaning.

E. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, it was found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have just as low of an escape probability............................Prepositional phrase is needed before 'consistent'. 'Just as low' is problematic.

A. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, it was found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have a lower probability of escape.
Grammatically correct. However meaning issue when we check parallelism.
ALSO FOUND cannot be parallel to found...
In the researchers’ studies of HIV, it was found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have a lower probability of escape.
It was also found sequences does not make sense

B. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, they found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, which is consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have just as low of an escape probability.
WHICH cannot modify entire clause.
Awkward construction: just as low of an escape probability.

C. The researchers’ studies of HIV found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, a result consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have a lower probability of escape .
CORRECT
Makes ALSO FOUND parallel to found(red colored)

D. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, it was found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein have many possible escape mutations, which was consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have just as low of an escape probability.
WHICH cannot modify entire clause.
VERB: the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein have HAS

E. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, it was found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have just as low of an escape probability.
Awkward construction: just as low of an escape probability.

why need wordy
can we have better sentence

B. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, theyfound that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, which is consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have just as low of an escape probability.
incomplete idiom
just as xx?
wrong parallelism muttation vs finding

C. The researchers’ studies of HIV found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein has many possible escape mutations, a result consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have a lower probability of escape .
Lets keep it

D. In the researchers’ studies of HIV, it was found that the V1-V2 hypervariable region of the protein have many possible escape mutations, which was consistent with previous findings, and also found sequences that would have just as low of an escape probability.
just as xx?
wrong parallelism mutations vs findings

Re: GMAT CLUB OLYMPICS: In the researchers studies of HIV, it was found [#permalink]
While 'C' is the most probable answer choice here , I feel there is a subtle error in the answer: It is not possible for the studies themselves found the results. Someone(researchers) should have found the results through the studies , and there is no mention of a person here.
Can anyone explain whether my reasoning is valid?
