Total GMAT Test Takers per Year [#permalink] New post 29 Aug 2007, 06:47
Does anyone know how many people have taken the GMAT so far in 2007, or how many took it in 2006? I was just wondering so that you can figure out how you rank according to the numbers, not just percentile.

Such as, if 10,000 people have taken the test and you are ranked at the 90th percentile, your score is one of the top 1,000 scores.

Anyone know this info, or where to find it?

Edit:
This is what I found searching GMAT Club, but the percentages aren't perfect. It also doesn't tell if the average of 220,000 tests taken is a wild guess, or a legitimate estimate.

Score Distributions
GMAT scores are often mentioned along with GMAT percentiles. A percentile is the percent of test takers you have outsmarted on your test out of the total number of test takers. The highest percentile is said to be the 99th. For your convenience we list below the distribution charts that link scores to percentiles. Of course, each GMAT test has its own distribution, but they do not differ substantially. The distributions allow to make estimates, as this: On average, about 220,000 tests are taken every year, so around 2,200 people get 750 or above.

The percentile fluctuates every time. Plus I think you got the math and verbal backwards.
