Transitioning from MC to Industry [#permalink] New post 20 May 2013, 16:55
Is it possible to transition from MC to Industry? If I worked as an engineer in an industry (IE. O&G), then work in MC, can I transition back easily into industry? How do you explain to employers the reasons you chose MC vs. industry after MBA?

Yes, it's fairly easy to transition back into industry. A lot of my co-workers left consulting to go into industry (they actually joined their clients' firms). My advice is to make sure you're working on engagements in the industry you want to transition into - then the switch makes sense. To answer your second question, my co-workers typically said that they were tired of traveling (impetus for some was being married or having children). They also wanted to specialize more in one area, rather than be a jack of trades.
