Translate foreign grades to GPA [#permalink] New post 16 Jul 2012, 14:50
Hi gmatclub members,

I finally passed my GMAT and am in preperation for the admission right now.

As part of it I have to calculate my GPA for it, based on grades I got at the university in Austria (Europe).

I found this page

http://www.foreigncredits.com/Resources ... or/Austria

but I am not sure if the result of it is reliable.

Furthermore am I not sure if I have to calculate my GPA of my Bachelors + Masters or only my Masters grades.

So my questions are:

- Is there a better source for calculating the GPA for my grades from Austria?
- Do I have to calculate it for ALL grades or just for my final masters report (contains my 5 fields of specialization)?
- Do I have to calculate it for for Bachelor + Masters or just Masters grades?

Hope somebody can help.

Regards.

The AdCom should be able to equate your grades directly. If you are towards the top tier of evaluation (eg: Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Fail - and you are getting Excellent or Very Good) I dont think you need to worry at all as to how the grade will be converted. Further, keep it at an overall level rather than each year, each subject etc.

Further, WES as an agency is typically quoted everywhere for grade equivalency. Check this out (http://www.wes.org/gradeconversionguide/index.asp)

Hope this helps.

I understand that but it would be nice to know where I stand upfront.

Are there some AdComs here in the forum which can help?

It depends how I calculate this. In my masters I was great. I got an average of 1.5. In my Bachelors I got an 2.5 average....

Again. The question is can I just use my Masters average for application.
