Travel experience prior to applying to B-school

Hey guys - If I don't get into one of the schools of my choice this year I would like to do a work & travel program abroad and resubmit my applications the following year. Reason being is I'm an entrepreneur and have already started to process of selling the business in hopes of getting into B-school. If all else fails, then I would be unemployed and not in school so I figured I'd do something I love which is to travel.
My question is: how would this look to adcom the following year? The "work" portion of these programs aren't exactly lucrative positions. I could be doing management at a hotel to picking fruit on a farm. It really all depends on placement which I won't find out until I get there. In contrast, I've also considered teaching English in the UAE. The pay-to-cost of living ratio is attractive which would help save for grad school, help pay for an MBA admissions consultant and give me more time to craft a strong profile to shoot for higher ranked schools.
My goal is to travel while increasing my candidacy to adcom. Do these options hurt or help achieve my goal? What are some other options? Mind you I'm an American with 4 years experience as an entrepreneur/self-employed, with a short internship in Brazil, and am applying to schools in the EU.
