For those of you retaking the GMAT, what date are you targeting? Sometime in May or June?

Same here, not sure how much I'll improve in a month, especially after not looking at that stuff in over a year but I will give it my best shot. I'm going to target an end of May retake date.

I'm not anticipating any movement until after May 24 (April Round decisions released).

Some folks from January round already got their feedback. I'm still on the wait...
Also, I saw on the Darden thread that our friend Kjar, who was also waitlisted at Tuck in the January round, is matriculating at Virginia. I guess that means there is one less friend suffering for Tuck. Good luck to Kjar at Charlottesville and to all of us during the next few months!

Hey, if it makes you feel better (which it probably won't), I was waitlisted in the EA round and got my feedback on April 1st.

Lol, I know all about your long wait CobraKai, I've been reading your posts for quite some time now... At least no one else from your round got their feedbacks long before you, am I right? I'm just feeling a little bit forgotten...
Anyway, the post was mainly to update fellow waitlisters about more people leaving Tuck's WL to join other institutions. Great for them, and a little more hope for us.

Just got my feedback email. The standart "there is nothing specific for you to work on at this time". Also said it's unlikely to see any movement on the waitlist before June or July. Hence, there is nothing we could do but wait.
I guess nothing new for you guys, but just thought it would be helpful to bring you an update.

I was actually okay with the "there's nothing you can work on" feedback. In the end, it's a numbers game and the adcom is human, and humans are subjective. There's ~3000 applying for ~280 seats. At some point, the Adcom has to pick a direction and go with it...unfortunately for us, we were in the opposite direction

I agree with you, they are certainly subjective. Remember how I couldn't believe they told someone with a 710 to retake the GMAT? Well, I also have a 710, with less than stellar GPA (although justified), and they did not ask me to retake it. I don't know if I should be glad, or if I should take another shot at it just because they feel a 710 is not good enough for other applicants.
And I also agree it's a numbers game. I just can't help to wonder what could have tipped the scale in our favor, since apparently we were so close!!
Well, now I'm just dumping my frustration here...

I really think this is where the essays come in. Different things will resonate with different adcoms. I spent a lot of time drafting and re-drafting my 3 Tuck essays and basically chopped 100 words off each and molded them towards Johnson.

Tuck WL'd me, Johnson accepted me AND invited me to their scholarship weekend. Different strokes for different folks seeing how there weren't many variables between the two apps.

chin up everyone. Went to asw this weekend and met a few undecided people. Definitely some waitlist spots will be opening up really soon.

Good luck to everyone!

Unless of course, these undecided people put down a deposit at Tuck this Friday to buy themselves time...

Were these people very strongly leaning against Tuck even though they were at the ASW? What is it that lead you to believe enough people were iffy enough to post that?

I know a few people that have declined their offer of admission in Early Action and November round to go to schools such as Kellogg, for example, but have not done so until March. There will definately be some spots opening, but there is no way to know how many, or how many offers were made, or how many people will be admitted in the April round, or how many will pay and then go to some other school.
That's the beauty of being waitlisted! You never know!
Or are you going to tell me that you would trade this wonderfull feeling of not knowing if you are going to be in business school or working by this time next year for the joy of already be planning your pre-school vacation?
All jokes aside, I've declined my spot at Ross (with ). So, from now on, it's either Tuck or nothing at all! Kinda scary, now that I think about it...

To add another layer of uncertainty, it doesn't matter how many spots open up, but what type of spots open up. For instance, after the deposits are made, Tuck could have 15 seats to fill, but if they're happy with the number of military guys they have, I'm SOL.

Bold move declining Ross! Best of luck to you!

I know it's a giant crap shoot, but we are the people who obsess over every single detail of every application and invitation to interview! I can't NOT obsess about the wait list too!

For me, it's weird... I'm planning my move for another school while waiting for Tuck to call me. I just really, really hope they let us know good, bad, or ugly before July. It would suck to be unpacking in another city, deposits on apartments paid, deposits to schools paid, job may more may not be secured for the partner, and then I have to uproot all of that. Don't get me wrong, we've discussed it and that's our plan. But it's still scary.

Oh the unknown of it all. #waitingsucks

yes, I met a few undecided people who seemed to be leaning in other directions. The timing is going to be tough, but there isn't much that can be done.

My assumption is that the yield in your specific bucket needs to be low (perhaps vs. previous years) to get a shot off the waitlist (this is completely my opinion).

It seems ridiculous to ask applicants to retake GMAT and consider their candidacy only if they score higher than average...Admissions should be a holistic game, making the numbers better looking does not actually help boost the school's image.
