Tuition Reimbursement Signing Bonus? [#permalink] New post 17 Aug 2013, 05:35
How common is it for employers to offer a tuition reimbursement bonus out of a top MBA school? I was talking to a Columbia student who received an offer from a large buy side investment manager that included reimbursing his full tuition costs.

Really depends on the company. A lot of consultant firms do this with a loan forgiveness program that amortizes over 3 years post-MBA. Some buy side firms will do this as well, though it is less common as an MBA is not as meaningful in finance, as top-performers typically get promoted directly to senior associate/VP without the need for an MBA (vs. MBB where professional degrees are common)

Not very common that I know.... usual signing bonus is 20-30K that I have seen (usual is the synonym of average here). This is much better than a few years ago by the way. You can see the average signing bonuses on USNews rankings.... and they are not 100K such as CBS tuition.

Here are the stats from US news for CBS

Signing Bonus: Overall

Total reporting signing bonus 302
Low signing bonus $2,000
Average signing bonus $32,111
High signing bonus $150,000
