TV & Newspaper Interviews.... [#permalink] New post 19 Nov 2006, 21:32
I've been interviewed several times for various TV & newspaper stories....should I consider including these in my application/resume? I don't want to seem too over the top so I'm hesitant to mention them.

Any thoughts?

No, its totally boring. I mean, it doesn't make you stand out in any way. All MBA applicants are interviewed on TV for various things. I mean, I was on CSPAN yesterday and I'll be on CNN Moneyline later this week, you know? After that I think I'm doing a cameo on LOST. Hurley is going to rape me.

Common now!!! YES MENTION IT! I mean, if were talking about really boring stuff no - but I think I know what you were probably interviewed about and it was probably interesting, so yes, mention it!!

Gosh thats a good question. I suppose that would work. Can't say I have any experience with that! I had some publications under my belt so I put those under extracurriculars and just listed "Four publications in X, circulation of 1.3MM" ... Maybe you can put "Interviewed for X,Y tv stations and Z,ZZ newspapers for my work in X" ? So it doesnt end up taking a ton of space...

edit: And make sure you mention the intellectual capital catalyst thing too, thats a pretty neat doodad you got there.

Maybe Media Engagements? I've been invited to be on panels for a number of university, corporate and non-profit conference events so I just listed them under Speaking Engagements as the last section of my resume. I would give a very brief summary of your role in each interview.

A few completely made up examples...
Oprah - segment on what my company is doing to cure AIDS in Africa.
NBC Today Show - segment on investing in real estate for the average Joe.
