Two months GMAT study plan for beginners [#permalink] New post 17 Jan 2013, 08:47
Well the schedule which i have prepared is by considering that u haven't yet studied much for gmat and you are free for next two months.

There are certain things you need to know before you start preparing for gmat...
1)Know about the exam-about its structure,timing,sections involved,test centers,how to schedule a test and everything...Just goto http://www.mba.com.
2)Prepare list of books needed and order them early so that you have them when needed
3)A time table

METHODS OF PREPARATION

There are two possible ways :-
a)self study
b)online coaching,in class coaching,private tutoring etc
Now the question comes -
Q)which one to go for?
Ans)I personally believe that coachings are made for people who cannot study on their own.Example:- you are a type of person who has to party all day, have
fun with friends ,watch tv etc then the option of coaching is for you because you will atleast study for few hours keeping in mind that you have paid a lot
and you need to attend classes.
But nothing can help you score better if you dont give enough time to self study.
If you think that you can study properly as per your time table and follow the rule(study at the time of study and fun at the time of fun).
Also coaching is advisable if you are very rusty and dont have the proper understanding of concepts.

HOW TO PREPARE

METHOD 1

Coachings-- Less the money spent, the better it is(not applicable to everyone) .. So ,taking into account various factors such as you have enough time to
study , your dedication and various factors the best online coaching is GMAXONLINE ( http://www.gmaxonline.com) . It is the best one with over 67 hrs of video tutorial. It is
recommended as they provide lots of homewwork so that you can spend 7 to 8 hrs studying easily a day.
The price for complete course is $299 and believe they are the best for pushing a person to 650+ score(only self study and hard work can help you
to raise your score above 650).

Books Required :
GMAXONLINE requires its users to have official guide 13, Og 13 quant and OG 13 verbal.

METHOD 2

Self Study:

This plan is designed taking into account that you have 2 months ( 8 weeks to study).
It is also expected that before starting you have all the knowledge regarding GMAT exam

Day 1 - Day 16

For studying quant the books needed are MGMAT foundation quant, official guide '13 and grockit subscription.

1)As you are ready to give enough time of atleast 4 hrs a day , revise all the basic concepts from MGMAT foundation quant in 5 days.

2)Under study plan section on grockit, attempt each section (perform targeted practice) .. reattempt sections various times until you achieve platinum medal
(try at least for gold medal) ... You should try to do this in 5 days..16 topics in 5 days (i studied 2 hrs a day and completed in 8 days).

3)Now for the next 10 days just practice practice and practice on grockit until you get at least a score of 44 percentile in quant.

Day 17 - Day 40

In these 24 days target for verbal.

Books required are ultimte gmat grammer(if your grammer is weak),powerscore CR bible,Manhattan review sc guide and rc guide.

1)for the first 7 days try to get better on SC using MR sc guide.

2)For next 7 days try to get better on CR using powerscore CR bible

3) for the next 10 days concentrate only on RC using MR RC guide.

IF your grammer is weak revise the grammer concepts using ultimate gmat grammer also remeber to keep using grockit side by side and improve verbal
percentile atleast upto 40

Day 41 - Day 60

Now we are left with 20 days ..

Q)What to do ?
Ans)Practise and mock tests

Q)From where to practice
A)now u need to solve official guide completely .. solve it .. If it finishes before time jump to grockit for practice..

Q)Tests?
A)Give atleast 4 tests before you go for real gmat exam . For various paid and free tests goto
all-gmat-cat-practice-tests-links-prices-reviews-77460.html?fl=menu .Choose your test and decide to give it on saturdays.
thursdays or whatever you feeel comfortable with.

QUESTION)What about INTEGRATED REASONING and AWA?
Answer) Of your complete schedule decide 2hrs/2 days in a week when you will be focussing on IR and AWA.... I am attaching 2 different IR ebook and for AWA goto how-to-get-6-0-awa-my-guide-64327.html

HOPE YOU FIND THIS STUDY PLAN USEFUL. IF AT CERTAIN PLACES YOU THINK THAT THAT I HAVE MISSED SOMETHING OR IT MAY BE DIFFICULT OR TOO HECTIC FOR YOU TO
FOLLOW, REPLY WITH THE PROBLEM YOU HAVE AND I WILL REVISE THE SCHEDULE.

GOOD LUCK FOR GMAT

You did a nice job with the review. Day by day instructions would be a great addition.
