two things are puzzling me, when i went through a post,

1. 'split infinitives': is using split infinitives OK is GMAT land or not.
2. Can we use 'should ......... then' construction in place of 'if........ then'.

We cannot use "should" instead of "if" in a conditional sentence.

could you define split infinitives?

example for split infinitives : to boldly go where no man has gone before.

Split infinitives are a big no-no on GMAT.

As to your second question, should can be used as hypothetical subjunctive, but it is very rare.
