UC Irvine Merage is a Near Elite Frontier school located in southern California. Irvine is a well regarded campus of the University of California roughly comparable with UC Davis in terms of prestige. The education philosophy is oriented toward the impact and use of technology in business.

There are 4 MBA programs including a 2 year FT program, PT program, EMBA, and a special MBA for the health care industry.

Academic Schedule: Quarter

The first year is almost entirely prescribed save for one elective in the Spring Quarter. The second year is almost entirely composed of electives.

The center of the distribution is roughly in the 3.3-3.4 and 660-670 range.

Technically they rank lower than both berkeley and anderson in the national charts but they are really starting to move up the ranks. Business v 2.0 even put them on their list of top MBA schools. What is drawing people's attention is the tech community in and around Orange County. UCI is also located smack dab between San Diego and LA, two tech hotbeds.

I am also looking at them... I haven't been too impressed as they don't really fit my needs but anyone who is looking for General Management with a focus in tech should give them a look.

I generally concur with thenine's appraisal of UCI. It is well respected, perceived as moving upward, but not quite on the same level of the two UC flagships.

Information Technology for Management is clearly an important component of the MBA program at Irvine. However, it has offerings in all the usual fields.

Take a look at some of the course offerings:
