Hi all! I was very happy to gain acceptances to the 3 schools I applied. But now I am perplexed at choosing one (picking between $$and better ranked program) I got a full ride forte fellowship to attend UCLA Anderson, 40K for Duke Fuqua, and no money from Wharton. It was fairly easy to rule out Duke in my case as the difference between Duke and UCLA was quite significant, and I don't think the advantage Duke has in ranking justifies that cost difference for me (although I do think Duke is a more national name when compared to UCLA and it attracts lots of healthcare companies, which is an industry I am interested in). Being able to get my MBA and stay debt free certainly has quite the appeal and feel quite honored to be awarded a fellowship from the well respected forte foundation! Anderson's network is strong in CA; however, I am afraid I am not going to benefit from the network and have the same access to opportunities if I decide to come back to the northeast. Wharton has been my top choice as I want to pursue finance / strategy after graduation and Wharton is known as a finance school. My husband and I are located in Philly suburb, so I do not have to incur all the incremental costs related to relocating, traveling back and forth in that regard. Plus, I have no doubt the Wharton brand will open many doors for me in the future and the alumni network here in Philly from Wharton is strong. What would you choose if you were in my shoes? Any comments and suggestions are welcome! Thank you in advance! Current Student Status: Too close for missiles, switching to guns. You didn't mention it, but if you went to Anderson, would your husband stay in Philly? Yes it's easy to think that a full-ride removes the financial burden, but it's only worth it if you can land the same job that you could coming out of Wharton. My guess is you'll have better opportunities at Wharton and have the salary to pay off loans. _________________ Intern Joined: 25 Mar 2014 Posts: 2 Followers: 0 Kudos [?]: 0 [0], given: 0 Re: UCLA Anderson Full Ride vs. Wharton w no [#permalink] 26 Mar 2014, 05:51 Thank you CobraKai. Yes, my husband will remain in Philly if I go to UCLA Anderson. Totally agree with your point that Wharton will likely help me land a more solid job. Although I love California and think it will be great to relocate out there one day, I am convinced that the Wharton brand and its extensive alumni network can get me there; I am not sure I can say the same thing about Anderson's reach on the east coast should I decide to stay on this side of the country. No reason to risk your marriage (or at the very least, spend 2 years away from someone you love). Agreed, I think the fact that you and your husband are in Philly and would remain there makes this an easy choice. Congrats on the great options! Staying in Philly would be a good choice and help your marriage also. Moreover it doesn't hurt to check if Wharton can sweeten the pot for you. Asking them politely if not already done might be an option worth exploring... Good luck !!!!!!!!! UCLA sounds like a coupon for a good you don't want?
