UCLA vs. Georgetown [#permalink]
10 Apr 2011, 16:17
Help! Got accepted R2 to UCLA Anderson and Georgetown McDonough. I work in Commercial Lending for a mid-size bank now, but am hoping to transition to PE after my MBA. After b-school, I want to end up on the Eastern side of the US - mid-west, east coast, or mid atlantic. I know UCLA is ranked higher than Gtown, but I'm concerned that if I go there, I'll have trouble getting jobs back east after school. It it more important to go to the higher ranked school or should I go to school in the region that I want to eventually work?
Appreciate any feedback/advice!

Considering your inclination to join a PE firm after your MBA i would vote for UCLA. I guess the general perception for making a career in PE is that 'goto the highest ranked MBA program possible'. UCLA Anderson has an impressive brand name the world over. If you do a quick "LinkedIn" search, then you will find many MBA graduates working in the PE/VC industry.
My 2 cents.
Congratulations for these two great admits!
