Uhhhh Scholarships?

So this is probably a dumb question. I noticed when a lot of people were listing what schools they got accepted into they were also listing whether or not they had received a scholarship. I am not familiar with the admissions process, do schools just give certain applicants scholarships based on their undergrad GPA and GMAT scores?

its how badly the school wants you, which is a combination of your scores, background, experience, future career potential ($$ on the recruitment statistics) and so on and also how likely you might have been admitted at other schools and may chose this school if you are offered scholarship money.

the reason i mention the second fact is that sometimes you may apply to this safe school thinking that you are too good for this school and you will definitely get a full ride. the way the school sees your application is that, "ok, so this guy is bound of Kelllogg or Tuck, he just has applied to my school as a safety", lets put him on the waitlist or better yet ding her. :lol:

ahh I see...so basically it is to my benefit to get the highest GMAT scores etc as the more sought after I make myself as a potential student the more likely I am to get a scholarship? Does this apply to all schools? Right now I am considering applying to my local state university as my primary and not my backup just because it would not require me to move and it is cheaper. I assume most applicants would consider this school a safety school, so I can assume my chances of getting a scholarship here are better?

sure that will work, you just need to demonstrate to your local state school in your essays and visits that this is the only school you wish to apply to and why you are so interested.
